PrestaWeather API

A SaaS system that automatically adapts your PrestaShop store's content (banners, product ordering, recommendations) to real-time weather conditions at the customer's location.

How it works

Three steps, all server-driven: nothing that ad blockers or slow client-side scripts can break.

01

Instant geolocation

Server-side IP geolocation runs on every request, resolving the customer's location without relying on client-side scripts that ad blockers can strip out.

02

Weather rules engine

A backend rules engine converts location to city, pulls current weather from an in-memory cache, and picks the matching content rule, typically in under 50ms.

03

Async content swap

The frontend receives a JSON response and updates page elements (banners, product order, recommendations) asynchronously, without breaking page caching (Varnish, Smarty).

Who it's for

PrestaShop stores with weather-sensitive demand

PrestaWeather works best where what customers want to buy changes with the weather: outdoor gear, seasonal fashion, home and garden.

check_circle It's a fit if...

  • 01. Your store runs on PrestaShop.
  • 02. You sell products where demand shifts with weather, e.g. umbrellas on rainy days, cooling products on hot days, seasonal collections.
  • 03. You use aggressive caching (e.g. Varnish) and need a solution that updates content without breaking cache.

block Probably not for you if...

  • 01. Your catalog isn't weather-sensitive: most B2B or purely digital products won't benefit.
  • 02. You're not running PrestaShop: there's no module for other platforms yet.
  • 03. You want a fully self-service, no-integration widget: this requires installing a module and configuring rules.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will the weather module slow down my PrestaShop store?

add
No. The module uses a thin client architecture: geolocation and weather lookups happen server-side, and the frontend only applies changes asynchronously after the page has already rendered.

My store uses aggressive caching like Varnish, will it still work?

add
Yes. The system is designed to work alongside backend caching: content updates happen client-side via API calls that modify the DOM after the cached page loads, not by changing the cached HTML itself.

How is the module billed?

add
The PrestaShop installation module itself is free. Access to the weather API and rules engine is a separate subscription, billed based on your store's traffic.
